End of the 2023-2025 continuing education cycle

You have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025, to complete the required training hours and enter the information in your PDU record. Take the right steps now to avoid unpleasant surprises after November 30, 2025.
Best practices for completing a training cycle with peace of mind
Keep your contact information up to date
Make sure that the email address in your member file is current. This is essential for receiving reminders and communications related to your continuing education requirements. To change your email address, go to the Account tab in your PDU record.
Check your PDU record regularly
Review your PDU record periodically and add training activities as you complete them.
- Only activities recognized by the CSF and completed before November 30, 2025 count towards the current cycle.
- To be eligible for PDUs, a course must be recognized by the CSF. Confirm this with the training provider.
- If an activity is missing from your record, you can enter it yourself using the recognition number on your certificate (format CSF-XX-XX-XXXXX).
- To do so, go to the Attendance entry tab in your file, then click on New attendance entry.
Example: A member logs in on November 29 to enter all their training, only to discover they are missing PDUs. Don’t let this happen to you!
Keep your certificates of completion handy
- Retain all your certificates of completion, even if the activity is already listed in your PDU record.
- Certificates must be kept for at least 24 months after the end of the cycle, in case of verification.
- If you can’t locate a certificate, contact the training provider or your compliance manager.
- Please note: training courses taken directly on the CSF website are automatically recorded in your file, and certificates are available online.
Consider carrying over PDUs
Did you have surplus PDUs between September and November 2023?
You can carry over up to 5 PDUs to the current training period.
To do so, go to your PDU record and click on Priority for PDU postponement.
Plan your training courses in advance
- Planning ahead allows you to better distribute your workload and avoid last-minute stress.
- 1 PDU = 1 hour of training.
- Providers have 30 days to send certificates to participants.
- Live webinars, often free, are automatically added to your file if you register with your certificate number and attend in full.
- Most training courses have an expiration date. Courses offered on our website are usually valid for six months from the date of registration, except for the mandatory compliance course.
100% CSF training courses
Did you know that the PDUs from the training courses offered on the CSF website are added to your file in real time? This is very convenient
Report your extended absences
A reduction in required PDUs may be granted if you’ve been on sick leave (or another type of eligible leave) for at least four consecutive weeks.
Submit your request via the Request for exemptions tab in your PDU record.
- Processing time is 15 business days
- Required PDUs will be prorated based on the length of your absence.
Note: A gradual return to work does not qualify for an exemption.
University or college courses
Several college or university courses can be recognized as PDUs.
Fill out the Application form for recognition of PDUs – University or CEGEP course
Canada-wide recognition
Under a Canada-wide agreement, training taken outside Quebec can be recognized by the CSF if you reside in another province/territory.
Complete the Canada-wide recognition form and attach the required documents.
Download the form: Application form for recognition of PDUs – Canada-wide agreement
Approximately 30 days before the end of the cycle, around the beginning of November, the CSF sends a notice to members whose PDU record is incomplete.
This personalized notice:
- Lists missing PDUs
- Explains consequences if no action is taken
This notice is not a sanction, but rather a reminder to complete your continuing education record.
What happens if your PDU record is incomplete as of November 30, 2025?
Deadline : 11:59 pm on November 30.
You have until 11:59 p.m. on November 30 to complete and enter PDUs in your file.
Activities completed after this time, down to the minute, will be applied to the next cycle – they will not count for the 2023-2025 cycle.
To be compliant, you must:
- Have accumulated the required number of PDUs in the correct categories.
- Have entered all your training activities in your PDU record.
If not:
- You will be deemed non-compliant.
- The AMF will be notified.
Short compliance period in December
If your PDU file is incomplete, you will receive a notice of non-compliance in early December. This notice does not (yet) mean that your right to practice has been suspended. You will be given a period of approximately 20 days to resolve the sitation.
This additional time applies only to the entry of activities completed before midnight on November 30, 2025, or to request a training exemption.
During the 20-day adjustment period:
- You can email us your training certificates, provided that the activities were completed before midnight on November 30, 2025. Please note that a processing fee will be charged.
- You can apply for an exemption through your member’s area if you have been on leave from work for at least four consecutive weeks due to parental leave, disability, or caregiving responsibilities. If accepted, a waiver entitles you to a reduction in the number of PDUs to be completed, and your file may then be compliant.
- New training activities completed during this period will not count toward the 2023-2025 cycle. They will apply to the new 2025-2027 period, even if your file is in default.
Please note that between the start of the new period and the notice of suspension for failure to meet the PDU requirement, you are authorized to practice unless, for another reason, your name does not appear in the Register of Companies and Individuals Authorized to Practice | AMF.
Suspension of your right to practice
Notice of suspension – February 2026
In mid-February 2026, if your file has not been regularized, the AMF will suspend your certificate or registration for each discipline or category in which you have not fulfilled your continuing education obligations.
The suspension has several consequences, including:
- You can no longer practice in the discipline or category concerned, including giving advice or finalizing a transaction.
- The suspension for failure to complete PDUs is published in the AMF's weekly bulletin. In addition, your name is removed from the public register, i.e., the Register of Companies and Individuals Authorized to Practice | AMF.
- The suspension may have repercussions on your relationship with your clients or your reputation.
No notice is sent directly to clients; it is up to you or your firm to inform them of your suspension.
Regaining compliance
In the event of suspension, it is possible to rectify your situation:
- Complete the missing PDUs. From the date of suspension, you can take the training courses you are missing, but not before.
- Send your certificates to the CSF.
- Once your file is compliant, the CSF will notify the AMF to allow the suspension to be lifted.
In summary:
- Take action before November 30 to avoid any problems.
- If you are in default, take advantage of the month of December to enter PDUs you completed before the end of the period.
- Even after a suspension by the AMF, you have recourse to get back into compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
If I do not meet my continuing education requirements within the deadline, will I be automatically suspended as of December 1, 2025?
If you do not meet your continuing education requirements, your right to practise will only be suspended after you receive written confirmation from the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) stating the date of your suspension. It is only from that date that you may begin to earn the missing PDUs. You must promptly send the CSF your proof of attendance for the training activity once it has been completed. The CSF will record the PDUs obtained for the previous training period and will inform the AMF if your record becomes compliant. The AMF will lift the suspension of your certificate or registration in the days following receipt of our notification.
What happens if I do not receive the required proof of attendance by the deadline, i.e., by November 30, 2025? How can I avoid a penalty?
After November 30, 2025, if your proof of attendance has not yet been recorded in your file, you will be granted a 20-day compliance period to regularize your situation. The only condition is that these trainings must have been completed before November 30, 2025. Please also note that late-entry fees apply for activities added after November 30.
I purchased a training course but did not have time to complete it before November 30, 2025. Can I get an extension?
No. However, a purchased course remains valid for six months. For example, if you purchase a course on June 30, 2025, and do not complete it before November 30, 2025, it will still count for the following period if you complete it before December 30, 2025.
I started a training course but could not finish it on time. Can I get an extension to complete it?
No. All training must be completed and recorded before midnight on November 30, 2025.
It is midnight on November 30, 2025, and I realize I am missing PDUs. However, I had the possibility of carrying forward PDUs from the previous period, which would make my record compliant. Is it too late to carry them forward?
Any carry-forward of PDUs must be done before the end of the period, i.e., before November 30, 2025. You are therefore in a situation where your right to practise may be suspended. We encourage you to contact us as soon as possible so we can help you regularize your situation.
I am currently on sick leave or parental leave, and I believe this will affect my ability to complete my PDUs. Should I inform the CSF?
If you are on sick leave or parental leave for at least four consecutive weeks, you may notify the CSF to obtain an exemption from your continuing education obligations for the duration of your leave.
It is important to inform us as soon as possible. Without an exemption request, you may be deemed non-compliant as of November 30, which can result in a suspension of your right to practise. If the exemption request is approved, you will be able to complete the PDUs for the 2023-2025 cycle upon your return, even if your return takes place after November 30.
To do so, you must complete an exemption request form, specifying your leave dates and attaching supporting documentation. This process is done directly from your PDU record, under the “Request for exemptions” tab. Processing time is 15 business days, and your required PDUs will be prorated according to the length of your absence.
Note: A gradual return to work does not entitle you to an exemption.
Can my employer request an exemption on my behalf?
Requesting an exemption is your responsibility, but your compliance officer (or another designated person) may submit the request for you if they have all the necessary supporting documents. You will be personally informed if the request is approved.
I am on sick leave or parental leave but did not notify the CSF, and I am missing PDUs to be compliant. Am I suspended?
If you did not inform the CSF of your sick or parental leave before midnight on November 30, your right to practise will be suspended if you are non-compliant at the end of the period. We encourage you to contact us as soon as possible so we can help you regularize your situation quickly.
I hold two practice licences and have decided to give one up. If I do not complete my PDUs in the discipline I am giving up, will I lose my right to practise in both disciplines?
You will retain your right to practice in the other discipline, provided that the PDUs required for that discipline, as well as your General subjects and Compliance PDUs, are completed. However, we recommend that you complete your PDUs to keep your record in good standing, even though no administrative consequences are imposed as long as your licence remains inactive.
I did not renew my licence or gave up one of my disciplines during the continuing education period.
Why am I still being asked for PDUs in that discipline?
Do I have to complete my PDUs?
If your licence was active for part of the reference period, a prorated calculation is made to count only the months during which your licence was active. If you choose not to earn the required PDUs because you did not renew your licence, you must ensure that you do not reinstate your licence before the end of the continuing education period to avoid a suspension of your right to practise. If you decide to reinstate your right to practise after the end of the continuing education period, you will need to obtain the missing PDUs from the previous period, provided that this return occurs within the time limits set out in the regulations. Beyond these time limits, the AMF or the CIRO, depending on your discipline, may require you to comply with the reactivation rules set out in the applicable regulations.
Note: It is always recommended to earn the required PDUs, as they reflect your period of activity.
I work part-time. Can the number of required PDUs be reduced?
No. A part-time member must meet the same continuing education requirements as a full-time member.
If I am retired or on sabbatical leave, do I still have to obtain my PDUs?
You must meet the continuing education requirements if your right to practise is renewed each year.
